Archangel Jeremiel is a lesser known archangel who has also been referred to as Jerahmeel, Leremihel, Remihel, Eremiel, Rame’el. Jeremiel means ‘mercy of God’. Archangel Jeremiel is referenced in the Hebrew Bible, the Tanakh and in intertestamental books as Jerahmeel. He is also recognized in the deuterocanonical book 2 Esdras in the 16th century Catholic official Latin version of the bible, the Vulgate, which is also part of the Russian and Ethiopian biblical canons. He is also referenced in the Ethiopian Book of Enoch as Rame’el. Jeremiel watches over and guides souls in their afterlife journey.
