Intuition is a gift that we are all born with, but like any other talent o skill it requires development. When you learn to hear and follow your own intuitive guidance you find it much easier to stay centered, balanced, and make choices that keep you in line with your highest good. Intuition can guide you in relationships, career, finances, health, and every other area of life. When we stay true to our authentic needs and highest good we become better able to support others in their highest good. Here are 10 essential ways you can develop and strengthen you intuition.

1: Notice and Question Your Beliefs & Attitudes

Your beliefs and attitudes set the stage for your experiences in every area of your life. They can also support or undermine your health and well-being Positive beliefs and attitudes stimulate growth. Negative ones inhibit it. It’s important to rid yourself of counterproductive beliefs and attitudes that you may not even realize you have. No organ system stands apart from your thoughts. Your beliefs program your neurochemicals and your body chemistry.

2: Use a Pendulum

Attuning a pendulum to your higher power or higher consciousness can help you feel more comfortable listening to and trusting your instincts when they do arise. This is a simple tool you can use to ask yes or no questions and get consist, accurate answers with a little practice. Just remember to keep the pendulum cleared of all low, negative, unbeneficial energies and frequencies by saying a prayer, smudging it, or using visualization to consecrate it before each use. Any item can be a pendulum including a necklace, a key chain, or a piece of wood tied to some cotton yarn. The intention is what matters.

3. Ask Oracle Cards

This can be a fun, accurate way to activate and access your intuition. If you don’t own a deck of oracle cards you can buy an inexpensive one on Hayhouse.com or an electronic deck on the google play store. I like Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Hidden Realms and Wisdom of the Oracle decks as well as Radleigh Valentine’s Archangel Power Tarot, but you need to find one that feels good to you. I have found that the electronic decks are just as accurate as the physical cards and you can do a reading on your phone from anywhere. I like the Intuitive Life Coaching Oracle by Indie Goes Software and Colette Baron Reid’s Wisdom of the Oracle. If you really don’t want to buy a deck or cannot afford one there are a couple of free apps and Colette Baron-Reid offers free mini readings on her website that you can access daily when you register for her newsletter.

4. Listen to Your Body

Your body is an intricate and responsive intuitive receiver. In Western society most people are programmed to live in and from their mind, ignoring their body until they experience pain or illness. This leaves them at a severe disadvantage. Reconnecting to the communication of your body opens you up to your intuition. This enables you to familiarize yourself with the early warning signs your body sends and to rapidly determine what you can do to address or avoid problems.

5. Practice Kinesiology (Muscle Testing)

Kinesiology is an ancient, proven practice of asking your body questions and receiving responses through your limbs or torso. For beginners or those that don’t feel comfortable with testing themselves it’s best to let your whole body give a response. This can be a very tricky for people that do not trust themselves. Your mind can often play games with you and induce a certain response when you aren’t grounded and open to your body’s innate wisdom. It is similar to a pendulum in that you ask yes and no questions and establish a baseline response.

6. Heart Centering

As your heart opens, your intuition expands. Centering yourself in your heart daily can not only increase your intuitive capacity it can also totally change the way you experience and respond to life. When you function from a place of deep love and compassion you become a magnet for the same. People and situations that once infuriated you fall away or evolve to something more harmonious. Your heart centered intuition will teach you how to see clearly and how to love unconditionally. It will renew your faith in yourself and life, make you feel connected and protected, and instill a sense of resilience and the confidence to face anything.

7. Pay Attention to Your Dreams

When your intuition cannot reach you during waking hours it often speaks to you through dreams. We all dream every night during the REM stage of sleep. Some people are capable of remembering all of their dreams without trying, but for most it takes desire and practice. The secret to remembering them is to tell yourself you want to remember them and write them down as soon as you awaken each day. You may only get bits and pieces at first, but the more you write down the more you will begin to remember. Dreams provide answers about relationships, finances, health, career choices, life purpose, and new directions. Ask a question before you go to sleep. Write down any dreams you recall in the morning before getting out of bed. If necessary, repeat the question, each night until your answer comes.

8. Journal for Insights

Journaling is a very effective way to activate and cultivate your intuition. Try starting out journaling 10 minutes a day and increase it as you feel more inspired and in tune. The most helpful way to do this is to get yourself comfortable in a quiet space where you will not be disturbed. Take a few deep breaths and relax your body, quiet your mind, bring up and write down the question, “What is most important for me to know right now?”, Repeat the question in your mind or out loud 3 times as you write it down. Then affirm that your intuition, which already knows the answer will reveal it to you momentarily, with clarity and kindness. Then write down the next thing that comes to you. Don’t worry about getting it right, just be willing to open up to your intuition and willing to write down whatever comes to you. This may take some practice to recognize when your mind is responding and when your intuition is responding. Just remember that your intuition will never criticize or judge you.

Your intuition is an integral part of creating the life of your dreams. It’s not a gift only certain people have. It is inherent in every conscious being. When you learn to reactivate and listen to your intuition your life becomes a beautiful flowing process that supports and inspires you to reach your highest potential, flourish, walk through challenges with confidence and resilience, and create opportunities to be of service to humanity and the planet.
