15 Phrases to Rewire Your Brain from Frustration and Failure to Calm, Confidence, and Accomplishment

I don’t know about you, but I used to spend an inordinate amount of time talking myself out of doing things or complaining about what I should be doing or needed to do. Our mind always does what it thinks we want it to do and excels in turning a simple task into a herculean challenge when we start telling ourselves how much we don’t want to do something. Unfortunately, the more we resist it the more prevalent it becomes in our thoughts, and the more anxiety and stress our mind creates around it, until we actually tackle it or complete it. In reality if we just did what we didn’t want to do, first thing, the easier it would be to accomplish and the more energy, calmness, confidence, and enjoyment we would experience in our daily lives because of it. It took me a long time to learn that truth and now I cannot imagine going back to the days of dragging my feet, making excuses, or putting off until tomorrow what I need to do today. I created so much unnecessary struggle, drama, and anxiety in my life just to avoid things that were mundane, daunting, or uncomfortable. My first step was taking a new perspective toward the things that I balked at doing. I slowly stared shifting the way I thought about the things I should do and needed to do. The more I pushed myself to do them first, the easier they became to do and I actually started enjoying doing many of them. They became much less tedious and actually made me feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. It’s very encouraging and liberating to begin making choices that support and cultivate your sense of self-worth, your growth, your success, and your freedom.

Here are 15 phrases that can help shift your mindset from anxiety, frustration, and failure to calm, confidence, and accomplishment.

 I HAVE TO or I SHOULD……

Think or Say:

 I CHOOSE TO or I GET TO……

Instead of:

 IF

Think or Say:

 I MIGHT

Think or Say:

 I CAN or I WILL

Instead of:

I CAN’T…..

Think or Say:

HOW CAN I…..

Instead of:

THIS SUCKS or THIS IS TERRIBLE

THIS IS JUST AN INCONVENIENCE…..

Instead of:

I’M SCARED

Think or Say:

I’M EXCITED (this feeling in my body is just my body’s way of preparing my energy for this new experience.)

Instead of:

THIS WILL BE HARD or DIFFICULT

THIS WILL BE NEW OR DIFFERENT

Instead of:

THIS WILL BE A CHALLENGE

THIS WILL BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP NEW SKILLS OR ABILITIES
