The First Key to Mindful Weight Loss
Chew Your Food Well!

Today I want to share one of the Seven Keys to Mindful Weight Loss.
Chew every bite of food slowly and mindfully.
Digestion begins in the mouth, which secretes enzymes that begin the process of breaking down your food. Aim to chew each bite 25 to 30 times before swallowing. The food should be a liquid consistency before you swallow. This also helps your brain register your level of satiety, so you tend to stop eating before you are stuffed. Paying attention to your body signals regarding how full you feel helps prevent overeating.
Too often we rush through our meals swallowing large chunks of partially chewed food which causes more stress on the stomach, overproduction of stomach acid, and loss of nutrients. It can also cause a buildup of toxins and undigested food in your intestines. If we give our brain time to register when we’ve had enough to eat, we can cut down on overindulgence, aid our digestion, and drop a few unwanted pounds.
